Who this is for

If any of this sounds familiar.

Four situations that account for almost every retained engagement.

Succession-Readiness

"I'm the obvious next step. So why don't I feel ready?"

You're being talked about as the next CEO, MD, or department head. Capable, experienced, technically excellent. But the next role is made of different stuff — decision-making under pressure, executive presence, the communication range to carry a bigger room — and you can sense it before anyone names it.

Executive Transition

"I just got the role. I have ninety days to make this work."

First-time exec, expanded remit, or external hire. The patterns that got you here will not be enough. The cost of an unsupported transition is high — and you can already feel where the friction is going to land.

Performance Plateau

"I'm capable. I've been at this level for years. Something needs to shift."

You've done strong work. You're respected. But the next move isn't coming, and the patterns that worked at the last level have become your ceiling. You need to see the move before you can make it.

Targeted Development

"The 360 surfaced something specific. I'd rather work on it now than have it follow me."

A defined gap — executive presence, decision-making, or communication most often. You don't need a course. You need a confidential space to work on it, off the record, until it stops being a thing.

If your company is sponsoring

How this works without compromising confidentiality.

If you're self-funding, skip steps 1, 3 and 5. Everything else stays the same.

1
Sponsor Conversation
Your sponsor (HR, your boss, or whoever's funding the work) has a 20-min call with Ronan to share what's prompting this and what good looks like.
2
Chemistry Call
You and Ronan have a 20-min call to see if it's a fit. Coaching only proceeds if both of you say yes — no obligation on either side.
3
Goal Alignment
You, your sponsor, and Ronan agree the broad goals together. These become the only thing reported back on. Nothing else leaves the room.
4
Coaching
8–12 sessions over 3–6 months. Whatever you bring stays between you and Ronan. Always.
5
Sponsor Check-Ins
Your sponsor gets a mid-point and end-of-engagement read on whether the agreed goals are being met. Never the content of any conversation.
🤝

A relationship built on results.

Every retained client gets Ronan's direct involvement — not a junior associate, not a template. If after the first month it isn't working, the engagement ends. No questions, no charge for the remainder.

Common questions

The ones that come up most often before someone books the call.

What stays confidential if my company is sponsoring this?

Everything you discuss in session. If a sponsor is involved (HR, your boss, or whoever's funding the work), you both agree the broad goals together at the start — usually three or four specific behavioural outcomes. Those goals are the only thing Ronan ever reports back on. The content of any conversation stays between you and Ronan. Always. This separation is what makes the work possible at this seniority.

How is this different from a leadership course?

Courses give you frameworks. Coaching gives you reps. Most clients here have already done the courses — what they need is a confidential space to apply the thinking to their actual situation, week after week, until the new behaviour holds. This is one-to-one, built around you, not a curriculum.

Is three months enough time for real change?

Three months is the floor, not the ceiling. It's long enough to identify the patterns that need to shift, run real-world experiments between sessions, and see whether new behaviour holds under pressure. Most retained clients renew — sustained change typically takes longer than a quarter. The minimum exists so we have the runway to do meaningful work, not because the work ends there.

What if I'm paying for this myself?

The same engagement works either way. If you're self-funding, there's no sponsor conversation and no sponsor check-ins — the goals are between you and Ronan, the content is between you and Ronan, and you decide what (if anything) to bring back to your company. Roughly half of retained clients are self-funded.

For HR & People teams: invoicing in EUR with VAT, 30-day terms, Stripe links, PO numbers, and multi-engagement contracts all handled. Mention any of this in your enquiry.

Meet Ronan

"My job is to be the one person in your week who doesn't have an agenda about your career."

I've spent the last decade doing one specific thing: sitting opposite senior leaders and helping them figure out what's actually going on — not what should be going on, not what the framework says. Then we work on it.

Over that time I've coached CFOs through CEO transitions, scale-up founders through board exits, first-time MDs through their first 90 days, and long-tenured directors weighing whether the next role is actually what they want. The patterns are different. The work is the same.

I don't give advice unless asked. I push back when something doesn't add up. I'll remember what you said three weeks ago and ask why this week is different. Sessions are 60 minutes, you set the agenda, and I bring the questions you didn't think to ask yourself.
